Establishing a helpful and manageable routine to change your colostomy pouch is a crucial part of colostomy care. You may change the pouch when required. If you are using a one-piece ostomy pouch, you will need to replace the entire pouch. If you are using a two-piece ostomy bag, you will need to change the pouch as required and replace the baseplate once or twice a week. If you have a colostomy and you use drainable pouches, you can empty them whenever necessary. You will need to replace one-piece drainable ostomy pouches every 2-3 days. If you are using two-piece ostomy pouches, you can change the bag whenever you want, and change the baseplate once or twice a week. Changing your colostomy pouch

You are going to need to drain your urostomy pouch several times a day. All you have to do is to go near the toilet and get into a comfortable position that allows you to empty your pouch with convenience. The bottom of a urostomy pouch has a valve. You have to open this valve to allow urine to flow out of the bag. If you are using a one-piece urostomy pouch, you are going to have to replace the entire pouching system every other day. If you are using a two-piece ostomy pouch, you will have to change the faceplate once or twice a week. Remember, a urostomy functions round the clock, so whether you want to change or empty the pouch, you are going to have to have quick access to everything. Make everything ready to do what’s necessary as quickly as you can. Changing the pouch
